Expensive = better???

Bill Moyer's journal, the video that we saw in class yesterday summarized the main points that Goldmen presented in his book "Ecological Intelligence". The main point that Moyer said and Golden in the interview agreed to was " the stuff we buy and use have a hidden price tag. If we don't pay attention to this price tag then our grandchildren, and their grandchildren will have to face the consequences". Whenever I start to read anything, I pay attention to whom the author is dedicating this book to. I noticed that the assigned reading we had for this class was Goldman's "Ecological Intelligence", and in the beginning it said for my grandchildren, and their grandchildren. So it was interesting how he put one of his main points in the beginning before even beginning the book.
Moyer also mentioned that another point was that expensive doesn't always equal better,and I agree with this statement. Usually when we go to the drug store, we buy the name brand because we see the commercials on television. I usually compare the name brand to the store brand and see if the main ingredients are the same, if they are then I buy the cheaper one. Why pay more for the same thing. As professor Hirsch wrote on the board, "knowledge about your purchases gives the consumers power". If we realize the amount of power we have, we can force the companies to make the goods we want for less price.
